Leopoldo advises clients in various markets, such as banking, telecommunications, information technology, mining, shipbuilding, auto parts, infrastructure, and pharmaceuticals. He practices business law focusing on criminal and regulatory matters, such as antitrust, compliance, anti-corruption, data protection, and white-collar crimes.
Leopoldo graduated in law at the University of São Paulo (USP) in 1999. He obtained his Master’s degree (2005) and his PhD (2010) from the same institution. Leopoldo also holds a MSc in Regulation from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Leopoldo has been admitted to the Brazilian Bar Association since 2000 and is a Partner of Freitas Leite e Avvad Advogados.
After chairing the Anti-corruption Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA), he sits on the Advisory Board of the same committee. Leopoldo is a member of the Advisory Committee of Integrity Initiatives International (III), responsible for drafting an international treaty to create the International Anti-corruption Court. He is approved in the category of Compliance by Chambers & Partners (Contentious Brazil and Global Guide) and the Anti-Corruption & Compliance category by the Latin American Corporate Counsel Association (LACCA). He was also named one of the ’40 under 40′ by the Global Investigations Review in the internal investigations category. In addition to being the former president of the Competition Defense Commission of the Instituto dos Advogados de São Paulo (IASP), Leopoldo has been appointed by Chambers and Partners as a foreign specialist in antitrust and M&A for Japanese clients.
Leopoldo served as rapporteur for the 20th Panel and TED I at the Court of Ethics and Discipline (TED) of the Brazilian Bar Association, São Paulo Section.
