Stephan Dittl specialises in copyright and media law, as well as competition, trademarks, distribution structures and sports law.

Stephan is now a partner at Friedrich Graf von Westphalen Law Firm, in Frankfurt (Main). Previously, from 2009 to 2017 he has been a partner at the law firm SALGER Rechtsanwälte.

Stephan studied law at the University of Gießen and did his clerkship at the District Court of Frankfurt am Main and in London. Afterwards, he did his PhD at the University of Gießen with a dissertation on brief reporting on sports events in television under civil, constitutional and European law.

He is member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, Institute for Copyright Law and Media Law, German Attorneys Association (working groups on intellectual property and media and sports law), as well as of the  International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA). He is a regular lecturer for sports, events and trademark law at the University EC Europa Campus, Frankfurt.

Stephan’s mother tongue is German and he is fluent in English.
